IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) is the application of connected sensors, network communication and data analysis to industrial equipment and processes. Machines, production lines, HVAC systems, logistics — everything comes to generate signals captured continuously, stored and analysed for decision-making.

The difference between consumer IoT and IIoT is substantial. IIoT operates in more demanding environments (dust, humidity, temperature, vibration), with higher latency and reliability requirements, and with integration into existing industrial systems (old PLCs, proprietary protocols). The operational benefit is enormous — predictive maintenance based on real signals, OEE calculated without human intervention, process digital twins that allow simulation before intervention.
