Apparel

Collections, seasonality, omnichannel.

Brands and producers with compact collection cycles and a need for an omnichannel presence. The operation has to breathe with fashion.

Context

The sector,in context.

Over the past two decades Portuguese apparel has swung between production for international brands (the familiar private label) and the growth of home-grown national brands operating both physical and digital. Portuguese brands like those now exporting across Europe share one challenge: running compact collection cycles (SS/FW reduced to a 3-4 week selling window), seasonal peaks that triple volume on a Black Friday, and an omnichannel presence where online and physical stock cannot live in silos.

Deep challenges

Where it hurts inapparel operations.

01

Omnichannel stock the customer sees in real time

The online customer expects reliable stock, and click-and-collect fails when the store has already sold the item. Real-time stock synchronisation between e-commerce and physical POS, with intelligent reservation and buffers, is a condition for not losing the sale and not frustrating the customer.

02

Collections with compact cycles

From brief to store in 6-12 weeks. This demands integrated PLM, fast approval flows between brand and producer, and a back office that can receive and publish the collection on the day.

03

Margin by model, not by category

In apparel, the average margin by category hides winners and losers. Visibility of margin by model (and by colour, by size, by channel) informs pricing and early clearance decisions.
